The Star-Spangled Banner

Words- Francis Scott Key
Music- John Stafford Smith

Oh say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Oh, thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto "In God is our trust!"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

You're A Grand Old Flag/ Yankee Doodle Boy

Words and Music- George M. Cohan

You're a grand old flag, you're a high flying flag;
And forever, in peace, may you wave.
You're the emblem of the land I love,
The home of the free and the brave.
Every heart beats true, for the Red,White, & Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag;
But, should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

(Boys)
I'm a Yankee Doodle dandy,
A Yankee Doodle do or die;
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam.
Born on the Fourth of July.
I've got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart,
She's my Yankee Doodle joy.

(Girls)
Yankee Doodle went to London
Just to ride the ponies;

(Boys)
I am a Yankee Doodle Boy!

(Girls)
He is a Yankee Doodle Boy!

The Declaration of Independence

Words and Music- Sam Francis

The Declaration of Independence
Says "we hold these truth to be...."
"All men are created equal"
To live in harmony.
"They are endowed by their Creator
With certain unalienable rights...
That among these are life, liberty,
And the pursuit of happiness."

CHORUS
The Declaration of Independence
"In the name, and by authority...
Declare, that these United Colonies
Are "free and Independent States"
A land of Liberty!

It was written by Thomas Jefferson
Signed on the 4th of July.
It declared our Independence
And told the reasons why.
In support of this declaration
Valiant men, strong and true...
They bravely " pledged their lives, their fortunes.
And their sacred honor too."

CHORUS

(tag)
It declared our Independence
And fought to keep men free!

The Ride of Paul Revere

Words- Paul Colwell
Music- Ralph Colwell

They saw two lanterns in the North Church tower
Ride! Ride!
They knew this was to be the fateful hour
Ride! Ride!
For a man to ride and to alarm
Ev'ry village and ev'ry farm
To awaken them and call to arm.
It was the ride of Paul Revere!

CHORUS
Ride! Ride! Tho' the night be cold.
Ride! Ride! Till the truth be told!
Ride! Ride! Like that man of old!
Ride like Paul Revere!

In Seventy-five upon an April night,
Ride! Ride!
The air was chilly and the moon shone bright.
Ride! Ride!
They rowed him past the man-of-war.
Landed on the Charlestown shore.
Where the finest steed was ready for,
The ride of Paul Revere!

CHORUS

I wonder if, two hundred years ahead
Ride! Ride!
If they will ride, or if they'll stay in bed.
Ride! Ride!
When faith and freedom within them die
And when they hear that midnight cry
And the hoof-beats cross the moonlight sky
Will they ride with Paul Revere?

Ride with Paul Revere!

We The People

Words- Sam & Gary Francis

Our forefathers came together at Independence Hall
To pen a Constitution...preserving rights for all.
They wrote of a free republic with rights and liberties.
United as one nation...a new democracy!

CHORUS
We The People...securing blessings of liberty.
To ourselves and our posterity.
We The People...foundation of democracy.
We The People...means you and it means me!

To form a perfect Union where justice is for all.
Promote the general welfare...it is our Nation's call.
Provide a common defense...protect our liberty.
This document was written to keep our country free.

CHORUS (repeat twice)

The Light of Liberty

Words and Music- Sam and Gary Francis

In New York Harbor she proudly stands
Our Lady Liberty
She's a refuge for the immigrants
Who come here to be free.
She's a beacon to this troubled world
Is there for all to see.
She stands for dreams to be fulfilled
The light of liberty!

May the flame stay burning bright
A ray of hope, a guiding light
For those who seek democracy
She shines for you ...and shines for me!

The Light of Liberty represents
All that we should be.
Let's do our best to make her proud
And live in harmony!
As we share this light with everyone
Then one day we will see
Peace on earth for each of us
For all humanity!

May the world join hand in hand
Let freedom ring throughout the land
Let's share the flame and we will find
This light will spread to all mankind!

May the flame stay burning bright
A ray of hope, a guiding light
For those who seek democracy.
She shines for you...and shines for me!

May the world join hand in hand
Let freedom ring throughout the land
Let's share the flame and we will find
This light will spread to all mankind!

Three Branches of our Government

Words - Sam Francis
Music- Gaye Gibbs

There are three branches of our Government
With separate powers for each one
They have to work together
To get the business of the country done.
The House of Representatives
And the Senate too
Are called the Legislative Branch
Making laws...that's what they do!

CHORUS
A system of checks and balances
Is designed to keep us free
Makes each one accountable
And promotes democracy.
It's the Constitution of our land
That provides a guarantee
The three branches of our government
Will protect our liberty!

The President of the United States
An important job because
He signs or he can veto
The Bills that become our laws.
The President has a White House staff
And a Cabinet too
It's called the Executive Branch
Enforcing laws...that's what they do!

CHORUS

The Supreme Court of our Government
Has powers to look and see
That every law can pass the test
Of Constitutionality.
The Chief Justice leads this Higher Court
And works with eight judges too
They make up the Judicial Branch
Interpret laws...that's what they do!

CHORUS

(tag)
The three branches of our Government
Will protect our Liberty!

Family...Foundation of Our Nation

Words and Music- Sam and Gary Francis

Our country is only as strong as each individual family
Working all together in peace and harmony.
A better world this would be if each one in the family
Lived by the principles of truth and honesty.
Children show respect for parents...learn to listen and obey.
Parents teach by example...with love they show the way.

CHORUS
Family....foundation of our Nation
Family... the light of Liberty.
Blessed from above with virtue and love
That's the strength that keeps this Country free.

There's nothing that takes the place...of a loving family.
Foundation of our Nation throughout history.
Brave men and women died...while defending Liberty.
Fighting to save their homes...and their families.
Through the years strong family values...have preserved Democracy.
Leaving to each of us... a lasting legacy!

CHORUS

The document of freedom that promotes democracy.

Free to peaceably assemble...free, without punishment or fear.
Free to petition any grievance we want our government to hear.
We are free to speak and print our thoughts,
Free to disagree with what they say,
Free to have a trial by jury... free to worship how we may.

We just cannot be deprived of life...or liberty.
"Due process of law" is there protecting you and me.
We have the Bill of Rights... It's there to keep us free.
We have the right to choose ... and reach our destiny.

In America's History

Words- Sam, Gary & Betty Francis
Music- Gary Francis

In America's History...
I see...the light of Liberty
Patriots who sacrificed
To keep this country free.
Men....like George Washington,
Patrick Henry, Jefferson
Paul Revere..and Hamilton. Each wrote their story.
CHORUS
Our Founding Fathers gave their all
They left their homes... to heed the call
They fought and died that we could be
Free to have Democracy!

In America's History
I see a flag of liberty
O'er the battlefield she waved
Praying for vict'ry.
With the fighting all but done,
It was clear which side had won.
Shining brightly in the sun...
There stood "Old Glory"!

CHORUS

In America's History...
There is a place for you and me
For we have the right to choose...
Be what we want to be.
With the sacredness for life...
We can help end wars and strife
We can vote for what is right...
Fulfill our Destiny!
